Agent Louise takes on the Commando 30 mile Yomp!

mplcontact is proud to support Nottingham-based contact centre agent Louise Harrison, as she takes on the dual challenge of fundraising for Royal Marines in need and Surviving The Yomp!

Organised by Commando Spirit, this arduous thirty miles across rough terrain in the beautiful Scottish Highlands actually mirrors the final test that all Royal Marines have to face, and survive, to gain their green beret. The green beret is a symbol that is recognised throughout the world, one that means the Royal Marine has passed the Commando Course and is celebrated as an achievement throughout the Marines.

For somebody to do this without any prior commando training, is quite the feat and we couldn’t be more proud of her.

‘Commando Spirit’ is an Appeal on behalf of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, with a mission to raise £1m by 2014 for the charity. Louise is very happy to be doing her part to help them.

At the heart of the Appeal is the Commando Spirit Series of events, which offer once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for participants to show their courage and test their mettle against a substantial commando challenge, whilst gaining a rare insight into what it means to be a Royal Marine Commando and raising life changing sums for Royal Marines and their families in need.

If there is anything that will keep Louise going through her own training, and during the Yomp itself on 14th September 2013, it is her 22 year old son. He started his Royal Marines training last year (2012) and is subsequently completing the 32 week course and passing out with his original troop.
